Mapúa Malayan Digital College Announces Scholarship for Outstanding Bacolodnon Students

In line with its core vision of delivering Better Experiences, Better Lives, and Better Country, MMDC is proud to announce the launch of its Sidlak Scholarship. The scholarship aims to reward deserving youth in Bacolod City and its surrounding areas with the opportunity to prepare for the future through quality education.

Coined from the Hiligyanon term meaning brilliance and brightness, this academic grant will provide tuition assistance for qualified Bacolod City youth that display excellence in education and civic engagement.

All graduating Grade 12 students or high school graduates from any CHED-recognized school in Bacolod City and its nearby cities are eligible to send in their applications for the Sidlak Scholarship. These candidates must be highly engaging, with good moral character, and should be willing to support student activities and networking among the students of MMDC.

The selection process will follow a point system that will rank these applicants based on academic and extracurricular endeavors. They must thus provide proof of student output, community projects, and Project-Based Learning (PBL) activities that they have initiated or actively participated in. On top of this, these students must have a General Weighted Average of at least 90% throughout their senior high school years in order for them to qualify.

This one-year grant is available for both the BS Information Technology and BS Business Administration programs of Mapúa Malayan Digital College, and will provide 100% or 50% tuition discounts good for three terms (equivalent to one school year).

MMDC’s Sidlak Scholarship comes with the following terms and conditions:

The Scholarship Agreement

In order for the scholar to maintain his or her eligibility, he or she should agree to the following conditions:
  • The scholar should maintain a TWA (Term Weighted Average) of 2.50 per term or better to continue with the scholarship for the year.
  • The scholar should not have any failing grade on any subject.
  • The scholar should not have been subject to any disciplinary action by the school.

Scholarship Application Procedure

In order to avail of the Sidlak Scholarship, the applicant must agree to submit and go through MMDC’s Application Procedure:

2. Applicants to this scholarship program must submit the following through email - admissions@mmdc.mcl.edu.ph.
  • MMDC Sidlak Scholarship Program Form
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character
  • Recommendation Letter from Principal or Homeroom Adviser
  • Two (2) 1.5" x 1.5" ID Photos
  • Parents/Guardian Income Tax Return
3. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email and will undergo an interview with the MMDC Scholarship Committee.
4. Scholarship deliberation is held a week after the end of the application period. Successful applicants will receive a notification via email from the MMDC Center for Scholarship if you have been qualified for the scholarship.
5. Sign the scholarship validation form and acceptance letter.
6. Complete admissions application process.

Terms & Conditions

1. The MMDC Sidlak Scholarship Program is a tuition fee discount of either 100% or 50%, valid for 1 year with three terms. The MMDC Sidlak scholarship, in the form of a tuition fee discount, is non-convertible into cash, non-transferable, and non-deferrable.
2. The program is open to all new and incoming freshmen MMDC enrollees residing within Bacolod City, Philippines or nearby cities in close proximity to the MMDC Bacolod Learning Hub. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via email and will undergo an interview with the MMDC Scholarship Committee.
3. The applicant will present his/her portfolio to the MMDC Scholarship Committee and will undergo an interview. There is no guarantee of qualifying as all applicants will be assessed according to the set scholarship criteria.
4. A scholarship slot may be forfeited if a student fails to enroll in MMDC on or before the enrollment deadline.
5. The MMDC Sidlak Scholarship is valid based on the maximum prescribed number of units for the Curriculum of the Program into which the student was originally accepted. The student shall no longer be given a discount or scholarship for units taken in excess of the prescribed number of units for the original program enrolled.
