Through the years, education has evolved to become more accessible to a wider demographic such as senior high school graduates, working students, and adults alike. Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MMDC), the premier digital-first college in the Philippines, is dedicated to offer flexible schedules and a fully online college experience that focuses on the application of technology in businesses, which eventually leads to high-demand jobs.

MMDC also offers scholarships to those who need financial assistance, more flexibility in payment terms, and even purchasing the gadgets needed to get started with online education and make it more achievable.

Here are 6 scholarship opportunities from MMDC that students and aspiring students can apply for:

MMDC Asenso Scholarship

The Asenso Scholarship is open to all enrollees who have not yet availed of other scholarships from MMDC. The first 500 enrollees can get a discount of approximately Php 20,000 per year on tuition and miscellaneous fees. As long as the student has a high school diploma, he/she is eligible to apply.

MMDC Continuing Education Scholarship

The Continuing Education Scholarship is exclusive to employees of MMDC’s industry partners. The scholarship offers 100% discount on tuition fees for 45 units out of approximately 150 units. The 45 units must be completed within 2 years and the miscellaneous fees for the said 45 units will be shouldered by the scholar or the employer.

There are 5 slots per industry partner for the entire duration of the partnership and then MMDC will grant an additional 1 slot per 20 enrollees from the partner.

MMDC Sidlak Scholarship

The Sidlak Partnership is a one-year scholarship available for both programs that MMDC offers. The scholarship will provide a 100% or 50% tuition discount for 3 terms regardless of how many units a scholar takes. The full or partial scholarship will be determined by certain criteria and number of available slots. The student must also have maintained a GWA of at least 90% throughout their senior year of high school.

This is open to all graduating 12th graders or high school graduates from any CHED-recognized institution in Bacolod City and its surrounding communities, not transferees.

Negros Occidental Abanse Negrense Scholarship

The Abanse Negrense Scholarship is open to all residents of Negros Occidental, except Bacolod City. With this program, 100% of the scholar’s tuition and miscellaneous fees from start to graduation will be shouldered by the Negros Occidental Provincial Government.

In order to qualify, the scholars’ income or combined income of the scholars’ parents must not exceed Php 200,000 per annum. Furthermore, the scholar must take a full load every term, maintain an average grade of 2.50 per term with no failing grade in any subject, and have a good moral standing. If a scholar fails, the LGU will bill them for the matriculation fee that the LGU paid for him/her.

All scholars will take all of the prescribed courses in their selected degree programs (i.e. no course crediting, all scholars will begin in 1st year).

Victorias City Scholarship

The Victorias City Scholarship offers full-ride scholarships to both students and LGU employees of Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

The LGU will pay for 100% of the tuition and miscellaneous fees of the scholars from the beginning of their college until their graduation. The LGU will prioritize its employees but will open to non-employees if not all slots are filled. The scholar, working or non-working, must take a full load every term unless he/she was able to credit units that he/she took before and must graduate within the prescribed duration (3 years and 2 terms for BS IT).

On top of the full-ride scholarship, all scholars, with the exception of LGU employees, will intern in the LGU 3 times a week for 4 hours a day beginning their second year until graduation.

To help the LGU employee-scholars graduate on time, the LGU will adjust their work schedules.

Sipalay City Scholarship

The LGU of Sipalay City is offering full ride scholarships to SHS graduates and government employees of Sipalay, Negros Occidental. The LGU will shoulder the tuition and miscellaneous fees from the beginning of their college until they graduate.

In this program, LGU employee-scholars may take a lighter load of 9 units per term.

Other City Scholarships

The LGU of Quezon City is offering a scholarship program to its residents wherein the students may reimburse their college tuition fees from the city government provided that the school where the student will be enrolling in is accredited by the LGU. MMDC is part of the list of schools that students from Quezon City may choose to study in and get reimbursed. To avail of this program, interested applicants may coordinate with the Quezon City LGU.

Similar to this, the City Government of Sipalay included MMDC in the roster of schools that city scholars may select for their free tertiary education, which the government will pay for. To be a city scholar, a student must be a resident of Sipalay City, pass the qualifying exam, and be of good moral standing, among other requirements. Interested applicants may coordinate with the scholarship office of Sipalay City.
