Step Up Sa Pangarap: How a college dropout is getting his life back

Carl Santos was given a second chance to step up and turn his life around. His college years were spent on going out to parties and drinking with friends up until he decided to drop out of school. Years later, despite finding ways to have a steady income, he knew that he had to do more for himself as well as for his wife and kids. “Pag may pamilya ka na you want something not just better for yourself but for them as well,” Carl shares. “Na realize ko na yung mga opportunities ko noon was something that I could still get, so I decided to step up.”

Carl is now enrolled in Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MMDC), the premier digital-first college in the Philippines, taking up BS Information Technology Major in Data Analytics. Despite his fears and doubts about returning to school, he believes this is his moment to grow as an individual, a husband, and a father. Carl says, “Finishing [my degree] for me is about setting an example not just for my kids but for my community.”
